About

Hiya! My name is Katie A. Voss  and I’m the founder of Graciebelle Photography, which was previously called Katie A. Voss Photography. I thought that was a bit of a mouthful and decided to shorten it to something sweet and snappy. Graciebelle is a combination of two of my dogs. Gracie was a Miniature Bull Terrier and Isabelle (Izzy for short) was an Argentine Dogo. Both girls have passed away in recent years, but the name of this company is a way to keep their memory alive. After all, it was their smiling faces that inspired me to start this business.

Always an animal lover, I at once began to focus my camera on my various pets—as well as the pets of my friends and family—while working on assignments as a photography student at Columbia College Chicago. Animals have continued to function as my photographic muses ever since. And I’ll take pictures of anything and everything! Dogs, cats, horses, parrots, guinea pigs, you name it! I’ve never photographed a reptile before, but I’d love the chance! During a session, I accompany you and your pet to its favorite place—be it the dog park, backyard or living room—so the pet stays comfortable and looking its best. Using mostly natural lighting and by playing with different angles and keeping a sense of humor, I strive to provide lasting, creative imagery that focuses on the details (a dirty paw, the curly-cue shape of a pug tail, or a lolling, fat tongue) and the beauty in the everyday moments. It’s not just a picture. It’s showing the world what makes your pet so great.  I am also up for traditional studio settings and can bring my portable set-up to your home.

I am always up for the chance to take portraits of the two-legged, as well. If you’re interested in engagement photos or family portraits (with or without the furry ones), I am game for that. While I’ve been dreaming about Graciebelle Photography for years, I’ve just now reached a point in my life where starting the business in earnest is possible. I’ve achieved more confidence in my ability, I have a few more spare minutes than previously and a fire’s stirred up in this soul of mine. So if you’re at all interested, please feel free to follow this blog and watch as I learn and discover and as this little photography company hopefully grows. And if you’re looking for some portraits of the pup (or the kitty, or the pony, or the goldfish), please give me a holler. I’ll be ready!

Happy travels!
